FORUM RULES

Post  Gloat on Tue Dec 23, 2008 11:19 am

In order to run this forum smoothly we have some rules for us ALL to follow.

1. Legality of models
You must NEVER use 3rd party not-created-by-you 3D warehouse objects for google sketchup, or any other online download system for other modeling programmes, even if you have permission from the owner. Models posted here should be ENTIRELY your own creation.

2. Ship modeling permissions
Please do not model any navy type ships unless you have permission from the Army (of ANY country) These models can be used by enemies in wars to track some information about a warship... It is bizarre, but it COULD Happen.

3. Treating your fellow co-workers
Treat all members as you would like to be treated. If you call someone err... a "silly idiot" then do not come rushing over to moderators saying that the someone called you a silly idiot back.

4. Ship Simulator licence key topics
Please do not post any restricted topics from the Ship simulator forum. There was quite a commosion about this when the forum was created.

5. Safety and Security
Do not give away ANY personal information. Even your name or picture. CERTAINLY not your password. Your address must not be more detailed then saying what city you live in. DO NEVER... EVER GIVE AWAY YOUR SHIP SIMULATOR LICENCE KEY. If you do and a moderator sees it he or she will remove it to keep you safe.

6. Posting and replying
Please post "stuff" in the relevant part of the forum. Please also search the forum before you post. Off-topic posts are only accepted on dead topics. Those who go off-topic on active topics will have their posts removed.

7. Private messageing
Please never share an e-mail sent to you on a topic of the forum in public. This makes the word "PM" (PRIVATE messageing) sound wrong and also makes the whole system practically useless. Private messageing is for privately contacting another player about a personal issue, or just a mSN messenger sort of place were you can chat to each other. We admins or mods cannot read your private messages. If anything can be shared with everyone, then it can go on the normal boards.

8. Chatbox useage
If you use the chatbox againts the rules, you will get banned INSTANTLY. I assure you, a combination of keys exist and it will ban you in one second. (Will only work for moderators) Please use the chatbox nicely, following the rules of the text here

9. Piracy
Pirate copy users of Ship Sim 2008/2006 are not welcome to the forum

10. Moderator information.
Moderators are users who help to keep the forum tidy and clean of rule breakers. They can merge, lock, remove or edit topics. They can also ban you. Moderators are not chosen because of their ability to see everything with their ten eyes or do everything with 100 arms. Moderators cannot be everywere at every time. If someone is bothering you or a fight has broken out and there is no moderator around to keep things settled, please contact one. A list of Moderators can be found towards the bottom of the forum.

Moderators have the last say in everything. Even if they are people and not "things" like you people Very Happy (just jokeing, folks, never make it do I? Evil or Very Mad ) Moderators are also people. They can make as much mistakes as you. If you think a moderator has been unfair, then head to the MODERATOR QUERIES, APPLICATIONS AND COMPLAINTS board and make your complaint there. If its private, contact an admin. but there must always be PROOF of your complaint.

You can also become a moderator, unless you have had two bannes from this forum by going to the very same board (Moderator quieries, applications and complaints) and give us reasons why you want to help. We usually accept people who are not moderators on any other forum, so they can learn the art of moderation and see how they get along.

Moderators are PEOPLE! LIKE I SAID BEFORE! Being a moderator does not mean that they cannot post models, or create normal topics.

Moderator, forum user, admin, same thing as far as community is concered, remember, moderators are your SLAVES! They keep this fourm clean and tidy for you. This does not mean you can boss them around... anyway, dont be alarmed if a Moderator starts a normal topic. And, as far as community is concered, Moderators and admins dont expect to be treated with respect, simply treat EVERYONE the way you want to be treated by them.

THE MODERATION SCEME
To moderate this forum, we have a different number of ranks which hold a different class of users.

Administrators
Administrators (colloquially known as admins) are owners of the forums, they have complete control of ther users but they will NOT use their power for unneeded reasons. Administrators need to get through a lot of work - so its best if you PM'ed a moderator unless it is deseperate. An Administrators word is law on the forum - forgeting that will not give you a very good start to the forum.

Global Moderators
Global moderators have quite a lot of jobs to do on the forum. They are chief moderator of the forum and the chatbox - and moderate both. This is a lot for a moderator so contacting these moderators or randomly annoying them will result in a warning.

Chatbox moderators
Chatbox moderators constantly watch over the chatbox when there are a lot of people constantly posting on it. They can join in a chat while watching over you guys, or simply log in and watch the conversation. The chatbox works like the forum. If you break the rules once, you will be issued with a caution and get kicked from the chatbox. Violate and break the chatbox regulations again and you will be banned for a certain number of days. Those who constantly violate the chatbox rules will earn themselvs a permanent ban. Users must not forget that chatbox moderators have certain codes which can do certain stuff such as kick, delete ban unban and so on.

Moderators
Moderators are a team which look after the forum for you. They can lock, edit, ban, merge, delete and move your topics and posts. Should you break any rules mentioned above, you will be issued with a caution - break that same rule again and your gone for a few weeks.

Kind Regards
